The City of Waco Athletics Division offers year-round opportunities for kids, teens, and adults to play, compete, and connect.

With leagues spanning a wide range of sports, participants of all ages and skill levels can stay active while building skills and friendships. Our programs emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth in a fun, welcoming environment. From basketball and soccer to softball, volleyball, track and field, and more, City of Waco Athletics helps keep our community healthy, engaged, and moving.

The Athletics office is located at the Gilbert Sanchez, Sr. Track and Field Complex (formerly the Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex), 3113 Clay Ave., Waco. For information or questions, please call (254) 750-5875.

Basketball

The City of Waco offers a youth basketball opportunities for boys and girls ages 13 and under, designed to build skills, confidence, and a love for the game. Registration typically opens each October, with league play tipping off in January.

For younger athletes, the Developmental Basketball League introduces children ages 3-6 to the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, supportive environment that focuses on learning, teamwork, and confidence on the court. Games are held at City of Waco community centers.

In addition to league play, basketball courts are available at Dewey, Doris Miller and South Waco Community Centers, as well as at several parks throughout Waco.

Baseball & Softball

Adult softball leagues are offered in both the spring and fall, providing year-round opportunities to get out on the field and enjoy some friendly competition. All games are played at Riverbend Ballpark.

In addition to league play, Riverbend Ballpark hosts baseball and softball tournaments for players of all ages.

Flag Football

The City of Waco offers an adult 8V8 flag football league each fall, combining fast-paced action with a fun, social atmosphere. Flag football is a great way to stay active, sharpen your skills, and enjoy the excitement of the game without the heavy contact. Whether you’re a former athlete looking to get back on the field or just want a fun way to connect with friends and meet new people, the league offers teamwork, strategy, and friendly competition in a welcoming environment

Futsal

The City of Waco offers a youth futsal league that introduces players to the fast-paced, skill-focused game of futsal. Played on a smaller court with fewer players, futsal helps athletes develop quick footwork, close ball control, and sharp decision-making. It’s a fun, high-energy way for young players to build confidence, improve their soccer skills, and grow their love of the game in an indoor, team-oriented environment.

Track and Field

The Team Waco Summer Track and Field Program is one of the top track and field programs in the state. It is open to children ages 5 to 18. The youth train with college athletes at the Gilbert Sanchez, Sr. Track and Field Complex (formerly the Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex) and compete at weekly meets. Athletes have the opportunity to advance to the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation's Games of Texas State Meet each July.

Soccer

The City of Waco offers both youth and adult soccer leagues that combine fast-paced play with fun, community-focused competition. Players of all skill levels can develop their abilities, stay active, and enjoy the camaraderie of the game. Games are held at Riverbend Park.

Kickball

The City of Waco offers an adult kickball league that’s all about fun, fitness, and friendly competition. Kickball is a great way to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy a classic game in a relaxed, social environment. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills, get some exercise, or just have a good time with friends, the league offers a welcoming atmosphere for players of all experience levels.

Fitness Centers

The Dewey, Doris Miller and South Waco Community Centers have wellness rooms that are open daily at an affordable cost. The rooms have a variety of weight machines and treadmills. The centers also host fitness classes and walking clubs throughout the year.

Tennis

The Waco Regional Tennis and Fitness Center provides 18 lighted courts, including a 1,500-seat championship court. The complex also offers a complete fitness center, pro shop, bar and grill, childcare and tanning. Tennis classes, leagues and tournaments are held throughout the year.
