Micro Dash: On-Demand Transit Service

Micro Dash is Waco Transit System's innovative microtransit service, designed to revolutionize urban mobility. Offering on-demand transportation within designated service areas (see map Micro-Dash-Zones.pdf(PDF, 51KB)), Micro Dash provides personalized rides tailored to individual schedules. Utilizing the user-friendly Ride Pingo mobile app, riders can easily book, track, and pay for their rides, while dynamic routing algorithms ensure efficient and responsive service. Micro Dash aims to enhance mobility, affordability, and reliability for all commuters, providing a seamless and enjoyable transit experience.

Service Features:

  • On-Demand Transportation: Micro Dash offers on-demand transportation services, allowing passengers to request rides whenever they need them.
  • Personalized Rides: Micro Dash provides personalized rides tailored to individual passenger needs and destinations.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Passengers can enjoy flexible scheduling, with service available from Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Convenient Booking: Passengers can easily book rides using the Ride Pingo App or by calling (254) 750-1623.
  • Service Zones: Micro Dash operates within three designated microtransit zones, allowing passengers to check their eligibility using the Ride Pingo App.
  • Integration with Fixed-Route System: Micro Dash is an extension of the fixed-route system, allowing passengers to use their fixed-route system passes for Micro Dash rides.
  • Real-Time Tracking: Passengers can track their Micro Dash ride in real-time using the Ride Pingo App, ensuring they know when their ride will arrive.
  • Professional Drivers: Micro Dash drivers are trained professionals who provide safe and reliable transportation services.
  • Seamless Connections: Passengers can use Micro Dash to connect with the fixed-route system, expanding their transit options within Waco.

Please note that Waco Transit's policy does not allow an operator to lose visual contact with the micro dash vehicle at any time, for any reason.

Service Hours:

Weekdays - 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturdays - 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Service is provided Monday through Saturday throughout the year, except for the following observed holidays.

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

How to book a ride:

  • Through the Ride Pingo App: Passengers can easily schedule their Micro Dash rides through the Ride Pingo App. The app allows users to book rides, track their vehicle's location in real-time, and manage their payments seamlessly.
  • Call Center: Passengers can also book their Micro Dash rides by calling Waco Transit System's call center at (254) 750-1623. A customer service representative will assist passengers in booking their ride over the phone.

Payment options:

  • Ride Pingo App: Passengers can pay for their Micro Dash rides electronically through the Ride Pingo App. The app accepts various payment methods, including credit/debit cards, mobile wallets, or linked accounts.
  • In-Vehicle Payment: Alternatively, passengers can choose the In-Vehicle Payment option when booking their ride. This allows them to pay for their ride using cash or passes directly to the driver at the time of boarding.

Minimal assistance includes:

  • The operator will come to the door of a residence or pick-up location.
  • The operator will attempt to notify passengers of arrival by sounding the horn or ringing the doorbell.
  • The operator will assist passengers in boarding and exiting the van.
  • The operator will deliver the passenger to the curb of his/her destination.
  • Clients who may need assistance from the vehicle to the first doorway may request additional assistance from the operator.
  • Clients who may need assistance from the first doorway to the vehicle may request additional assistance during the scheduling process of the trip.

Minimal assistance DOES NOT include:

  • Assistance getting in or out of a wheelchair.
  • Assistance in getting ready for the trip.
  • Administering medication or oxygen.
  • Assisting passengers in wheelchairs up or down stairs.
  • Assistance in carrying personal belongings or purchases.
