City of Waco STEAM Day
Join us October 11th for STEAM Day at the Waco Convention Center.
In 2009, the City of Waco Public Works Department began hosting an event called Engineering Day. This event was created to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers within engineering related fields. In 2015, the event was rebranded to incorporate science, technology, architecture and mathematics which resulted in a name change to S.T.E.A.M. Day.
S.T.E.A.M. stands for science, technology, engineering, architecture and mathematics. Renaming the event really enabled the Public Works Department to branch out to all types of career fields related to public works. This change led to the department’s most successful year with over 1,500 students registered from 31 schools within a 50 mile radius of Waco. In addition, there were over 50 exhibitors in attendance.
