Road closed sign and barricade

Heads up, drivers! A portion of Speegleville Road will be temporarily closed to traffic from December 22, 2025, through February 24, 2026. (The schedule is dependent on weather.)

The City of Waco is closing the road to install major flood control and drainage upgrades and to update the area’s water and sewer systems. This is the first phase of a multi-year series of projects designed to improve the Speegleville area between Highway 84 and the Middle Bosque Bridge.

All drivers will need to follow the posted detour routes around the construction zones. See the map for more information.

  • Inbound traffic will take Woodway Drive onto Bosque Lane and then a right on Oak Road to turn left onto Speegleville Road.
  • Outbound traffic will turn right on Oak Road and then left on Bosque Lane to reach Highway 84.
  • Outbound traffic going east on Highway 84 can use the turnaround at Sunwest Blvd.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Waco’s roads and infrastructure.
