Update: The road closure has been delayed to start on Friday, December 22 instead of the previously announced December 16. This delay means the work is now expected to be complete on Tuesday, February 24 (depending on the weather).
Heads up, drivers! A portion of Speegleville Road will be temporarily closed to traffic from December 22, 2025, through February 24, 2026. (The schedule is dependent on weather.)
The City of Waco is closing the road to install major flood control and drainage upgrades and to update the area’s water and sewer systems. This is the first phase of a multi-year series of projects designed to improve the Speegleville area between Highway 84 and the Middle Bosque Bridge.
All drivers will need to follow the posted detour routes around the construction zones. See the map for more information.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Waco’s roads and infrastructure.
