New Landfill & Transfer Station Now Open

The new Solid Waste Transfer Station and Landfill are now open. Residential solid waste customers can drop off up to one ton (2,000 pounds) of waste at either location four times per year at no additional cost. The old landfill at Hannah Hill Road is now closed.

Spring Forward on March 8 + Smoke Alarm Reminder!

Daylight Saving Time in Texas starts at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8. Move your clocks forward one hour. Now is also a great time to change the batteries in your home's smoke alarms! The Waco Fire Department, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will install free smoke alarms in the Waco community upon request!

Waco Fire Marks Three Years With Zero Structure Fire Deaths

As of February 18, 2026, the City of Waco has gone three full years without a single person dying in a house or building fire. We are grateful for the Waco Fire Department’s dedication to keeping us safe and to our community for stepping up by using smoke alarms and embracing fire safety habits.
