City of Waco Fiscal Management Services Receives Recognition for Transparency Efforts from Texas Comptroller
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced City of Waco Fiscal Management Services is the latest local government entity to achieve specific procurement transparency goals through the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program. City of Waco Fiscal Management Services received a Transparency Star in the areas of Traditional Finances and Public Pensions, awarded to entities whose websites show a commitment to accountability and transparency in their contracting activities.
Transparency Stars recognizes local governments that provide easy online access to important financial data.
"I want to congratulate City of Waco Fiscal Management Services for this achievement, and its ongoing efforts to make the contracts and purchasing process more transparent for taxpayers," Hegar said. " This effort achieves the goals set by our Transparency Stars program. By embracing this effort, City of Waco Fiscal Management Services has taken an important step toward improving taxpayer access to essential information."
The Comptroller’s office launched the Transparency Stars program in March 2016 to recognize cities, counties school districts and special purpose districts making important strides toward greater government transparency. After receiving a Traditional Finances star, local entities can go on to apply in other areas, for up to five stars:
- Traditional Finances
- Contracts and Procurement
- Economic Development
- Public Pensions
- Debt Obligations
