Getting ready to celebrate the New Year? Waco Fire Department & Waco Police Department would like to remind you that fireworks are illegal in our city limits. They affect more departments than you may realize. Fireworks scare pets, resulting in more stray animals. Officers from Animal Services, Waco Fire, and Waco Police spend valuable time responding to noise complaints and injuries. Please be safe this holiday season!

It’s against the law in Waco to possess, use, manufacture, sell, give away, transport, or discharge fireworks without a permit from the Fire Marshal. Minors in possession of fireworks are also prohibited.

Remember:

  • Fireworks are illegal within Waco city limits.
  • Sparklers are not considered fireworks and are okay to purchase and use.
  • Property damage could result in a fine of up to $2,000 and/or jail time.
  • Report violations to (254) 750-7500. Do not call 911.

Protect Your Pets:

  • Microchip your pets and keep current photos to easily identify them in case they get lost.
  • Keep your pets indoors and near you with their favorite toy or treat.
  • Never allow any pets near fireworks or sparklers.
