Public Works Streets
Division Highlight
Lion Pride is on Display
The Streets division installed the new Lions Way signs at Waco High School. The central corridor inside the building is named Lions Way, so now people can take their school pride with them when they leave the building. The signs replaced the N. 42nd Street signs outside the new Waco High School. The City of Waco and Waco ISD worked together to come up with the plan to make the change. The Streets division produced and installed the new signs according to the plan.
About Us
The Streets division maintains streets and roadways throughout the city. Pothole repair, paving, striping and sweeping are all part of keeping streets safe for travel. The division installs and maintains signs and signals as well. They are also responsible for maintenance of the storm drainage system, keeping water flowing safely back to our waterways.

Check on Road Closures
Take a look at the interactive map of area road closures. The road closure map provides a snapshot of current and planned road closures, detours, and work zones within the Waco city limits, including temporary closures for construction or events as well as longer-term projects.
It is updated as projects progress to reflect evolving timelines and changes, but not every closure is guaranteed to appear—particularly those managed by outside agencies such as TxDOT.
Because the map depends on project schedules and conditions, closures may shift, be extended, or only be added once they are officially scheduled, so users should be aware that the information is subject to change.
