West Waco Library to Temporarily Close for Flooring Renovation Aug. 30

The West Waco Library and Genealogy Center will temporarily close, beginning Sunday, August 30 through October 1 as crews install new flooring throughout the facility.

While the branch is closed, patrons can continue to return library materials using the rear exterior book drop, which will remain available throughout the renovation. Library services will also continue uninterrupted at the Waco-McLennan County Library's other locations, including Central Library, East Waco Library, and South Waco Library.

Library cardholders can also access thousands of digital materials from home, including eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines, movies, TV shows, online learning tools, and research databases through wacolibrary.org.

"This project was approved as part of the City's Fiscal Year 2026 Capital Improvement Program, and we're excited to begin this work at the West Waco Library," said Roberto Zapata, Director of Library & Cultural Enrichment. "While we know temporary closures can be inconvenient, this project will help create a more welcoming and comfortable space for our community. We appreciate everyone's patience and look forward to welcoming patrons back once the work is complete."

The library is expected to reopen following the completion of the flooring installation. Because construction timelines can change, patrons are encouraged to follow the Waco-McLennan County Library on social media for the latest updates.

During the closure:

• Return materials using the rear book drop at West Waco Library.
• Visit any other Waco-McLennan County Library location for in-person services.
• Access digital books, streaming media, research tools, and more anytime at wacolibrary.org.

Friends of the Library book donation drop-off is available at the rear of the building.
