General Election

The City of Waco will hold its next City Council general election on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for the mayor and the seats representing districts one and three. Residents interested in running for the election may file their application for a place on the ballot from 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026, through 5 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026.
Candidates must have resided in their respective districts for at least six months to qualify.
How to Apply
Starting, January 14, download the candidate packet online or pick up the packet at the City Secretary’s Office in Waco City Hall, 300 Austin Ave. The City Secretary’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call (254) 750-5750.

May 2025 Election
Early voting for the May 2 election will be held from April 20 to 28, 2026. Those elected will be sworn in at a City Council meeting on May 12, 2026.
