There was a blaze of community spirit for the grand opening of Fire Station #15 on Thursday, March 20. Residents, city officials, and proud firefighters came together for the dedication of the state-of-the-art facility at 10905 Panther Way (near the Ritchie Road water tower).

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the crowd was treated to a traditional fire engine push-in ceremony. This time-honored tradition symbolizes the official placement of the engine into its new home. Adding to the festivities, Sparky the Fire Dog made an appearance, and attendees had the opportunity to tour the new fire station.

Fire Station #15 is an over $6 million and approximately 8,200 square-foot structure. The state-of-the-art facility features a three-bay setup, individual sleeping quarters that can accommodate up to eight fire personnel per shift, large washing machines that can clean the firefighters’ gear, apparatus exhaust removal systems, and decontamination areas available before entering the station. The new fire station serves the West Waco neighborhood, which has seen rapid residential growth in recent years. The fire station is fully staffed with one captain, two lieutenants, three engineers, and six firefighters. A minimum of three personnel will be on duty daily. The new facility will help reduce response times, ensuring the department is available to handle emergencies of all kinds and help maintain our standard for getting a fire truck on scene.
