The annual Baylor Bearathon Half Marathon is set to return on Saturday, March 28th.

The race route will start on Baylor Campus, continue through downtown into Cameron Park, and finish at McLane Stadium. Due to the length of the race routes, impacts to traffic along certain roadways are expected. The event organizers have secured approximately 30 officers to control intersections and ensure traffic proceeds safely and efficiently. Please see the following list of impacted roads, street closures, and access routes for the morning of March 28th

Timeline of Complete Road Closures:

Roads will remain closed for vehicular access. Officers will direct traffic to local detour routes.

  • Herring Bridge through 12:00 p.m.
  • Washington Street Bridge through 10:00 a.m.
  • University Parks Drive Southbound from Webster to Franklin trough 10:00 a.m.
  • University Parks Dr./Cameron Park Dr. Franklin Ave. to Sturgis through 10:00 a.m.
  • Cameron Park Drive to Lovers Leap Circle through 12 p.m.

Timeline of Impacted Roads:

There will be periodic delays along the race route as participants pass through these areas

  • Saturday delays are expected to begin 7:00 a.m. and will continue until approximately 12 p.m.
  • Peak delay times at intersections are between 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Please allow extra travel time if your itinerary includes these roadways.

Expected Intersection and Road Delays:

There will be potential delays at the following intersections. Roads will remain open for vehicular access, and officers will direct traffic as soon as possible.

  • University Parks Drive and Baylor Avenue
  • Dutton Avenue from 8th street to University Parks Drive
  • University Parks Drive from Dutton to Franklin
  • Franklin Avenue and University Parks Drive
  • Franklin Avenue Bridge
  • MLK and Herring Ave
  • 4th Street and Herring
  • 5th Street and Herring

Travel Options for Herring Street Bridge Closure:

  • Heading Northbound on Herring – Take Detour onto 5th street until Waco Drive. Left onto Waco Drive.
  • Heading Southbound on Herring- Take Detour onto MLK towards I-35. Take Left onto Mill Street. Take right onto Dallas Street. Take right onto Waco Drive
  • MLK Heading Northbound – Take right onto Mill Street. Take right onto Dallas Street. Take right onto Waco Drive
  • MLK Heading Southbound- Take Left onto Mill Street. Take right onto Dallas Street. Take right onto Waco Drive
  • 4th Street at Herring – Take Left or Right (depending on which side you are on) onto Herring. Take left at 5th Street. Take 5th Street to Waco Drive. Left on Waco Drive
  • Franklin and Waco Drive Bridges will remain open.
