City of Waco Submits Proposed 2025-2026 Budget to Waco City Council

The proposed budget for fiscal year 2025–2026 is now available. The new budget maintains the current tax rate and includes a modest 0.1% increase over the previous year. The average City of Waco homeowner and utility bill customer can expect to see an increase of $11.18 for City services. Waco City Council will adopt the final budget at a public meeting on September 2.

A new face has joined the giraffe herd at Cameron Park Zoo. On July 25, proud parents Ellie and Dane welcomed Bodhi to the world. He was born at 112 pounds and is already adapting well to his life at the Zoo. Come on down to Cameron Park Zoo to meet Bodhi!

Waco Breaks Ground on New Fire Station #4

On Thursday, August 7, the City of Waco and the Waco Fire Department celebrated a major milestone in public safety with a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station #4. The state-of-the-art facility will replace the current station and is strategically designed to enhance emergency response capabilities and better serve the growing needs of the City.

Public Notice & Request for Comment: HOME-ARP Amended Allocation Plan

The City of Waco is providing a 15-day public comment period regarding the submission of its proposed Amended Allocation Plan. The total amount of grant funding to be allocated for the HOME-ARP Program is $2,543,684, an increase of $3,817 from the original allocated amount of $2,539,867. The proposed Amended Allocation Plan will be available on the City of Waco’s website and at all four libraries.

This notice concerns the 2025 property tax rates for City of Waco. This notice provides information about two tax rates used in adopting the current tax year's tax rate. The no-new-revenue tax rate would Impose the same amount of taxes as last year if you compare properties taxed in both years.

Public Hearing on Tax Increase

A public hearing followed by a vote on the proposed tax rate will be held on September 2, 2025 at 6 p.m. at the Waco Convention Center. The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that City of Waco is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2025 tax year.

Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026

City of Waco Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 is available for public inspection. In accordance with Texas Local Government Code, Section 102.005, any person may view the Proposed Budget.
This budget will raise property taxes by 3.86% from last year's budget.

The Historic Landmark Preservation Commission is seeking potential buyers to restore a historic home in Waco. Built in 1895, this property is recognized as a priority for preservation in the Waco Historic Resources Survey. 1108 N. 16th St. is available for $250,000

Adopted Tax Rate

City of Waco ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 0.70 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $-9.76.
