Deidra Emerson, Deputy City Manager with the City of Waco, began her career in public administration with the City of Fort Worth in 1995. She began as a temporary employee and advanced to increasingly responsible positions of: Administrative Assistant, Contract Compliance Specialist, Contract Compliance Supervisor, Assistant Housing Director, and Director of Municipal Court Services.
Deidra is active in professional and civic activities. She currently serves on the Waco-McLennan County United Way board, McLennan Community College Foundation Board, and the Baylor Collaborative Board of Advocates for Hunger and Poverty. She is a member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) and International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
Ms. Emerson has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and The Links, Incorporated.
She enjoys spending her free time with her family, mentoring young adults, and traveling.
