City of Waco Seeks to Fill Vacant District V Council Seat

The City of Waco is seeking applications to fill the vacant District V City Council seat. The application filing period for interested candidates will be from Wednesday, May 15 through 5 p.m. on Friday, May 31. 

Eligible applicants must be a United States citizen, be 21 years of age or older, and have resided in the State of Texas and the City of Waco for 12 months and in District V for at least 6 months.

The remaining members of City Council will interview the applicants on Thursday, June 6 at the Bosque Theater, Waco Convention Center, 100 Washington Ave. City Council will select the applicant by majority vote to fill the vacant District V seat for the unexpired term until the next City of Waco general election in May 2025. The selected applicant will be appointed and sworn in either June 6 or at the following regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 18.

Applications should be filed with the City Secretary at the City Secretary’s Office, 300 Austin Ave., 1st Floor of City Hall. Interested candidates should schedule an appointment with the City Secretary’s Office to pick up or submit an application in person.
