Mission Statement: To provide high quality, safe, convenient, and efficient travel for Waco’s citizens and visitors through the proper management of Traffic Services’ activities and resources.
Traffic Services is a division of Public Works and provides the design, installation, and maintenance for the following:
- Traffic Control Devices (signs, signals, pavement markings, and roundabouts)
- Arterial and residential street lighting
- Public Safety radio system
- City of Waco Emergency Warning Sirens
- Development review
- Traffic Studies
Traffic volumes are measured for all roads within McLennan County classified as a collector, arterial or freeway. These counts are referred to as saturation counts and are performed once every five years. Saturation counts are performed for the MPO by the Texas Department of Transportation.
In addition the Traffic department collects traffic count data as necessary for investigation of citizen inquiries, generating signal timing plans, speed limit studies, warrant analysis, etc.
