Time & Place:
The Pavilion at Carleen Bright Arboretum in Woodway Noon to 2 p.m.

Kelly Bryan, a retired biologist with a master’s degree in Field Biology/Ornithology from Sam Houston State University, has had a variety of fascinating careers, but he has always made time for birds. (He has been a North Vietnamese language specialist with the Army, a park ranger, an aquatic biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife, a dispatch supervisor for EMS and fire departments, a park superintendent for both Kickapoo Caverns and Davis Mountains State Parks, a natural resource specialist and a volunteer fire chief for the Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department.) In 2007, Kelly, a master bird bander, initiated the West Texas Hummingbird Project designed to determine the exact status and distribution of west Texas hummingbirds through capturing and banding individual birds on a systematic basis. Almost 19,000 hummingbirds of 15 species have been banded to date. Bring your lunch and your questions. Join the McLennan County Master Gardeners at The Pavilion at the Carleen Bright Arboretum in Woodway. For more info, 254-399-9204, FREE
