South 40 Outdoor Expo

Celebrate Everything Outdoors! The 2018 South 40 Outdoor Expo is presented by Gibbs Outdoor Recreation. The Expo is a great way for Central Texans to experience the outdoors on March 24-25, 2018. It offers vendors and exhibitors a great way to promote their outdoor products and services. Both indoor and outdoor exhibitor spaces are available. The South 40 Outdoor Expo includes the South 40 Fishing Trail Championship, BBQ Cookoff, and a Car Show. It offers a one-stop exploration of the great outdoors for the whole family for two days! Don't miss out on exhibitors & vendors from across the outdoor industry, exhibitors’ seminars, fishing and activities for kids, and much more! It is a completely FREE event including parking, admission & activities. There’s something for everyone, so you better not miss it!

Kid's Minecraft Club

Map It! Using Maps for Family History Research (Workshop)

Spring is here, and that means it’s time for a spring genealogy workshop. Learn all about how different kinds of maps can help you answer questions and find clues about your ancestors. We’ll have guests to present high-tech and low-tech methods to get the most information out of our maps. This full day workshop begins at 9, so show up bright and early to sign in and get the most learning done. Learn from experts from the Texas General Land Office, HistoryGeo.com and the Genealogy Center how to use maps to answer your genealogical questions. This workshop is sponsored by the Genealogy Center of the Waco-McLennan County Library in cooperation with the Central Texas Genealogical Society.

Navy Southwest Band Performances

Enjoy performances by the Navy Band Southwest’s Woodwind Quintet on April 4 and the Brass Band on April 5 in the museum’s rotunda. Navy Band Southwest is one of the Navy’s finest and oldest continuing musical organizations which averages over 600 performances a year. In addition to the many military activities it supports, the band's majority of performances are in support of the Navy’s retention and recruiting initiatives. As a strong proponent of music education, Navy Band Southwest proudly participates in the Navy’s "Partnership in Education" program through educational concerts and clinics for school music programs.

Movement, the Suggestion of Motion in a Composition

Featured for April meeting is award winning watercolorist Betty Graham who comes to us from the nearby art community of Clifton. Graham’s program will be accomplished with the use of directional lines and will be loose and creative. Celebrating 60 years of teaching watercolors, Graham will share simple tricks she has developed for Continuing Education classes at Texas A&M and Amarillo College. The Waco Friends of Peace/Climate holds it April Meeting. The business session begins at 6pm, along with FREE pizza and salad buffet. A lecture on rooftop solar will be presented by Shannon Munden of Freedom Solar of Austin. The lecture will cover the history of solar energy, installation of rooftop solar for Wacoans, and available financing. Everyone is welcome. The event is FREE.

Waco United Youth Sports

Flag,Tackle Football & Cheerleading Does your child have extra energy built up that you would like to see put to a productive use? Then we have the sport to help you, sign him or her up for our spring 2018 season youth flag or tackle football an cheerleading. Practices are held twice a week with all games played on Saturdays. Teams consist of 8-11players in the flag division, 15-20 players in the tackle division & 7-15 cheerleaders on a squad. Players are placed by their ages groups on each team, flag 4-11 tackle 7-12 & cheer 4-12, there are 3 division in flag and tackle. Teams will be organized by players request a team or free agent placement. The Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Waco United Youth Sports providing the fields for our organization to play. Volunteer coaches will be needed for this league, give us a call at 254-424-6846

CPF offers payment plans to families reducing the stress of a making one time payment. As a youth organization we stand on the importance of school work, teamwork and friendships both on and off the field. The Front Row of Fashion Hosted at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame

5th Annual Earth Day FREE Reusable Shopping Bag Distribution by the Waco Friends of Peace/Climate.

In Honor of Earth Day, the Waco Friends of Peace/Climate will give away FREE reusable grocery bags. The bags help avoid plastic, which is contaminating our lands, air and oceans; combat climate change; and are more convenient than plastic bags. They are available to everyone on a first come first served basis.

The Mayborn Museum Complex is actively seeking volunteers to join our exclusive Titanic Crew. Heartis Car Show, Concert, & Cook Out

Heartis invites the Waco community to join us and enjoy a cookout and a car show featuring The Heart of Texas Old Car Club, along with a concert featuring The Morticians. Our friends from the McLennan County Master Gardeners will visit to give tips and advice on making your container garden successful this year.

Use your imagination to create something great with LEGOs! We bring the LEGOs, you bring the ideas! Sometimes we will have a project to work on together and sometimes you can just let your building and imagination skills go WILD!

First Responder Half Marathon

Join us on April 22, 2018 (note date change from November 26th) in the Heart of Texas to Celebrate, Honor, and Remember First Responders from all across our country. A flat course of 13.1 miles, starting and ending at Waco's newest and finest Number One Fire Station, will include running through historic central Texas and along the Brazos River with Police, Fire, and EMS units surrounding us, supporting us, and reminding us of why we run.
