Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)

Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is coming to the Waco Water System!

Work to install the AMI system city-wide began in October 2018. Currently, the project is anticipated to be complete and the system fully operational by Fall 2020.

What is AMI?

AMI is an architecture for automated, two-way communication between a utility meter and a utility company.  It's more than just electronic meters or automated meter reading. It's an entire system. The goal of an AMI is to provide the water utility with timely data about water usage and allow customers to make more informed decisions about how they use water.
