PARKS & RECREATION SERVICES UPDATE:

While parks and natural areas remain open for public use, we encourage our community to continue to practice social distancing guidelines and health protocals while enjoying the outdoors. 

Please review the below list for the current status of park amenities, facilities and programs:

Program Updates:

  • Waco Youth Council: The City of Waco is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated teens to join the 2020-21 Waco Youth Council. This is a great opportunity for local high schoolers to serve as youth ambassadors for the city and play an active role in addressing community issues. The deadline to apply is no later than 5 p.m. on May 29. Applications can be downloaded online at www.waco-texas.com/youth-council.asp 
  • Our summer camps at the community centers and Camp Cameron have been cancelled. Stay tuned as we will be posted a variety of virtual programs and recreation activities soon. For a listing of camps around Waco, click here.
  • The Team Waco summer track program will not take place this summer. Virtual training sessions will be posted online. 
  • Our Brazos Nights concert series and Fourth on the Brazos celebration have been cancelled. 

Currently Open:

  • Parks and Recreation Administration Office (201 W. Waco Dr.)
  • Pavilion and Facility Rentals
  • Cottonwood Creek Golf Course
  • Cameron Park/Brazos Park East / Dewey Disc Golf Courses
  • Sul Ross Skate Park 
  • Playgrounds and Splashpads
  • Park Amenities such as restrooms, water fountains, sport courts, fitness equipment
  • Horseshoe Pits at Brazos Park East
  • Waco Mammoth National Monument: The park is working to increase access in a phased approach. Trails, restrooms and picnic areas are open. Guided dig shelter tours are temporarily suspended and park buildings (including the gift shop) remain closed.
  • Sports fields (excluding Riverbend Park): Effective May 31, 2020, youth sports may begin holding practices without spectators other than one parent or guardian per participant, as needed. Those sports may begin holding games or similar competitions, with or without spectators, on or after June 15, 2020. Spectators should maintain at least 6 feet social distancing from individuals not within the spectator’s group. For more information and minimum standard health protocols, click here.
