We're looking for donations for the Local History Collection at the Central Library.

We want to keep our collection clean, dry, and mold-free.

We'll evaluate the donations and decide if they can be added to the collection or donated to the Friends of the Library for their annual book sale.

All donated materials become the sole property of the library.

Guidelines for bringing in your donations:

  • Donations are accepted by appointment only at the Central Library. Please call Sean Sutcliffe at 750-5944 to schedule your appointment.
  • Please bring your materials in boxes or bags that you can leave at the library.

We gladly accept:

  • Hardcover and paperback books in good condition about Waco and McLennan County, including all communities.
  • Yearbooks for all public and private McLennan County schools (including high schools, middle and junior high, and elementary schools)
  • Church histories and directories
  • Item relating to Waco’s military history
  • Local maps

We cannot accept:

  • Items that are unhealthy to handle, including mold, water or other damages *general guideline: if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, please don’t give it to the library*
  • Books with missing covers or pages
  • Softcover books with crooked or twisted spines
