2021-2022 Flu Activity Report

Flu activity reports will be posted weekly October 2021 through September 2022 for the 2021 season.

Flu activity is defined as:

  • Lab-confirmed case: (Flu A, Flu B, Not Differentiated Flu). and/or,
  • Influenza-like illness activity (ILI): ILI is defined as fever over 100F and cough and/or a sore throat in the absence of another diagnosis
  • Not Differentiated (ND): Tests are classified as Not Differentiated (ND) when either the influenza diagnostic test does not differentiate between the type of influenza virus present or the specific strain was not reported to the Health Department.

The Health District receives reports from hospitals, clinics, laboratories, schools, nursing homes and other healthcare partners on the number of flu and flu-like illness on a weekly basis year round.  This information is calculated and reported to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Due to the increase in ILI, the previous season’s five weeks are included in the graphs below. The top graph includes cases of Flu A, Flu B, Flu Not Differentiated (ND), and ILI. The bottom chart includes only confirmed cases of Flu A, Flu B, and Flu ND.
