Waco City Council Adopts Budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Published on September 15, 2024 On Tuesday, August 27, Waco City Council approved the budget for Fiscal Year 2024 – 2025. The new budget maintains the current property tax rate and reduces tax-supported expenses while still providing employee salary increases and delivering the same quality of core City services. Spanning the Brazos: The Waco Suspension Bridge Published on September 13, 2024 For over 150 years, the Suspension Bridge has stood as one of Waco’s most emblematic landmarks. Eichelberger Bridge Update Published on September 13, 2024 The roadway on Eichelberger Bridge is now reopened to the public after damage from flooding earlier this spring. Public Works crews cleaned the roadway, re-established road ditches, and performed a structural analysis to make sure the bridge was safe for public use. Bagby Ave Road Closure Published on September 13, 2024 Starting Monday, September 16, both lanes of Bagby Avenue from Sunnydell Avenue to Richter Avenue will be closed through Friday, September 20. Message boards are posted to notify drivers of the detour route for through traffic. N. 17th Street Road Work Published on September 05, 2024 N. 17th Street from Washington Avenue to Columbus Avenue is currently under construction. One lane of traffic will remain open for most of the time, but there may be occasional full closures. Please exercise caution and slow down if you are traveling in this area. Cameron Park Zoo: Where Wildlife Meets Conservation Published on August 29, 2024 Cameron Park Zoo began as a modest dream in the 1950s and has grown into a beloved Waco tourism destination. After several moves, the zoo opened its doors in Cameron Park in 1993. Today, it boasts over 1,700 animals and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. September is Library Card Sign Up & Fine Forgiveness Month Published on August 22, 2024 In addition to being Library Card Sign Up Month, Waco-McLennan County Library is excited to announce Fine Forgiveness Month, a one-month amnesty program running from September 1 to September 30, 2024.
