The City of Waco Parks and Recreation Department maintains 66 parks and more than 1,650 acres of park land. Along with renowned parks such as Cameron Park, the historic Waco Suspension Bridge and the Waco Mammoth National Monument, there is always somewhere to enjoy the great outdoors! 

Park hours are from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Rent a Park Pavilion

Brazos Park East

Waco's 35-acre Brazos Park East features a boat ramp, pavilion, disc golf course, trails, horseshoe pits and scenic views of the limestone cliffs along the Brazos River.

Cotton Belt Trail

Head to the Cotton Belt Trail for an amazing hike, bike or run. The 2.5 mile trail is located atop an old rail line along Highway 84 and crosses the South Bosque River. Trail access points are located off Harris Creek Road, Old Lorena Road and Hannah Hill Road.

The trail was built in partnership with funding from the federal government and City of Waco (using Solid Waste funds).

Disc Golf Courses

Disc golf is a fun, free sport for all ages and skill levels. Give it a try at either of our two championship disc golf courses, which sit along the Brazos River in Cameron Park and Brazos Park East. Nine-hole family courses are also available at Dewey Park and Trail Blazer Park. Players just need to bring a disc golf or frisbee to play.

Doris Miller Memorial

The Doris Miller Memorial sits along the Brazos River and honors the Waco native who became known nationally as the first African-American to be awarded the Navy Cross, for actions during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

Riverwalk

The Waco Riverwalk includes approximately seven miles of multi-use, lighted trail that loops along both banks of the Brazos River.  The scenic pathway offers wildlife, relaxation, recreation, the Waco Sculpture Zoo art installation and entertainment.

Splash Pads

Waco offers six free splash pads in parks around Waco. Splash pads are open during park hours from May to September. 

Sul Ross Skate Park

Sul Ross Skate Park (1301 Barnard) was completed in the summer of 2015. The state-of-the-art park features in-ground bowls, ramps, stairs and rails for skating enthusiasts of all ages. The park also includes a playground, walking trail, pavilion, basketball / tennis courts and restrooms.
