Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition program for working and nonworking families who meet income, residency, and health screening guidelines. Clinics provide nutrition counseling, food benefits for grocery stores, breast-feeding education, and nutrition education classes.
WIC services are free to those who are eligible which include:
- Pregnant women
- Women who are breastfeeding a baby under one year of age
- Women who have had a baby in the past six months
- Parents, stepparents, guardians, and foster parents of infants and children under five can apply for their children
If you have a job or if you have private health insurance, you can still apply for WIC.
WIC Grand Re-Opening Celebration!
Join the Waco-McLennan County Health District as we celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of our WIC Clinic. On Friday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Health District parking lot, Waco WIC will celebrate the return to in-person services with food trucks, face painting games, balloons, and all kinds of family friendly fun. South 18th WIC Clinic Opening
The South 18th WIC Clinic opens to the community on Friday, August 4th! Located inside the South 18th St. Community Medical & Dental Clinic (1800 Gurley Lane), the South 18th WIC Clinic will be open by APPOINTMENT ONLY from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. every 1st, 3rd, and 4th Fridays. Alternative Formula Brand Options Ending May 31st
Consistent with USDA guidance, flexibilities that allow clients to purchase alternative brands in place of Enfamil formulas will end on May 31, 2023.
Beginning June 1, 2023, WIC participants will only be able to purchase the formula listed on their WIC benefits. For more information, visit TexasWIC.org.

- Enfamil Gentlease - 12.4 oz
- Enfamil A.R. - 12.9 oz
- Enfamil Reguline - 12.4 oz

Large Can Sizes
WIC staff may continue to issue the following large can milk-based Enfamil products through August 31, 2023, when standard contract size formula is unavailable. However, participants will no longer be able to redeem the alternative brands of the larger can sizes.

All WIC appointments are being conducted in person by appointment. Eligibility proofs for address, identification, and income can be uploaded ahead of appointment time through the MYWIC App, that you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Breastmilk is one of the most important gifts you can give your baby. Breastfeed as much as you can for as long as you can — every ounce gives baby lasting health benefits. WIC supports breastfeeding as the best way to feed your baby for as long as you (and baby) want.
