Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC)

Always remember to vaccinate your child on time!

No one else can do it for you. Protecting your child from childhood diseases by making sure vaccinations are on time is up to you. If you’re not sure your child’s vaccines are up to date, call your doctor’s office or clinic to find out.

You can get free or low-cost vaccines for your child through the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC). Ask your doctor or clinic if they participate in the TVFC program.

For more information about the TVFC Program, about vaccines and childhood diseases, or if you do not have a doctor or clinic where your child can get vaccinations, call our office at (254)750-5410.

Additional Information

First Time Clients

Please bring a copy of your child’s shot record with you so we can assess any shots that may have been missed. Not doing so may result in repeated visits to your physician’s office or our clinic based on the requirements set by your child’s school/university or daycare.

Back to School

Remember, immunizations are required for students to attend school in the state of Texas. Each school year we see an influx of clients beginning in July and increasing through the month of August. You can find school and daycare requirements on the DSHS website. If you need shots or shot records, don't wait until the last minute!

REMINDER: Our clinic only retains shot records for children and adults who have been to the immunization clinic here at the Health District. If your child is signed up for ImmTrac, a shot record may be in the database. Please keep in mind, it is not a guarantee that a shot record will be found, nor can we guarantee the shot record is current.

Physicals

Please refer to your physician. We do not have an on-site physician who can see clients for physicals or other routine exams.

Pregnancy Testing

Please refer to our HIV/STD clinic for pregnancy testing.

Background Checks/Blood Work/Drug Testing

The Health District does not offer background checks, blood tests, or drug tests.

Shot Records

The Immunization Clinic only holds shot records for clients we have vaccinated, or if the client is signed up in ImmTrac. If you or your child is signed up for ImmTrac, we may be able to find a copy of a shot record. The shot record is only as accurate as what was reported by your treating physician.

Please keep in mind that ImmTrac records will only be found if the child or adult is signed up for ImmTrac. If you had an ImmTrac record as a child and you turned 18, your ImmTrac record has been purged and you will need to sign up for ImmTrac as an adult. If you decided to sign up as an adult (and your ImmTrac record has been purged) you may want to provide us with a shot record to enter into ImmTrac. ImmTrac is a lifetime registry when you sign up as an adult.

A shot record will be provided at your vaccination appointment. Any additional records may require a small fee.

NOTE: We do not collect shot records from your physician’s office, nor are they reported to us for retention in any manner. Our clinic may request shot records to be sent from your school or doctor so our clinic can administer the correct vaccinations.

Shot Records for an ID

Any official shot record given by our immunizations clinic, ImmTrac, or your treating physician is a valid document to obtain your ID.

Recommended Immunizations by Age

Vaccination is one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children, and teens from 16 potentially harmful diseases that can be very serious, may require hospitalization, or even be deadly.

And immunizations are not just for children. Protection from some childhood vaccines can wear off over time. Adults may also be at risk for vaccine-preventable disease due to age, job, lifestyle, travel, or health conditions.

Visit our Recommended Immunizations page to learn what other vaccines you and your family may need. Check with your family’s healthcare professionals to make sure everyone is up to date on recommended vaccines.
