Our Parks and Recreation section of the website will give you many outdoor options in our great city! If you're coming to Waco, you have to visit Cameron Park, one of the biggest and best municipal parks in Texas. The 416-acre park is located in the heart of Waco, next to downtown. It features scenic overlooks, wildlife and playgrounds, plus approximately 20 miles of nationally recognized trails that weave through the natural landscape. The park runs along towering limestone bluffs and overlooks the Brazos and Bosque rivers.
Inside Cameron Park is the Cameron Park Zoo. The zoo rests on 52 acres adjacent to the Brazos River in Waco, Texas. Lush native vegetation surrounds splashing waterfalls, a picturesque lake and ponds. And in the midst of all this beauty, visitors see that the wild ones not only survive in their natural habitat, they flourish. Cameron Park Zoo's animal collection includes more than 1,731 animals, representing 300 species.
Waco is also home to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum which is the official museum, hall of fame and repository of the Texas Rangers. For the golfers we have Cottonwood Creek Golf Course which has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 public courses in Texas.
