Class A Mechanic
Salary: $14 to $18 per hour

Primary duties are to function as a lead Mechanic by repairing and maintaining all electric, diesel and gasoline industrial buses and vans owned by Waco Transit.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of a Class B Mechanic.
- Assists the Shop Foreman and Director of Maintenance with special projects.
- Performs difficult automotive and mechanical repairs requiring precision adjustments on all vehicles and equipment.
- Carries out maintenance safety requirements.
- Supervises Class B and Class C mechanics in all aspects of electrical and mechanical repairs.
- Must be able to overhaul engines and components without need of supervision.
- Make repairs on electrical components- starters, motors, solenoids, circuits, wiring, relays, etc.
- Make repairs on engine components (gas and diesel)- lubrication systems, fueling systems, tune-ups, cooling systems, transmissions, etc.
- Make repairs on the suspension and body.
- Service and repair air conditioning systems.
- Able to trouble shoot all systems for defective parts.
- Perform preventative and systems, tune-ups, cooling systems, transmissions, etc.
- Make repairs on the suspension and body.

- Find instructions and parts in maintenance and parts manuals for related systems.
- Inspect and repair wheelchair lifts.

- Ensures quality service through effective customer relations and timely feedback.
- Assumes duties of Shop Foreman in his absence.
- Some outside working hours may be required for special events and training.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises all Class B and C Mechanics.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to repair electrical and mechanical components, major and minor, without the need of any supervision.

- At least 6 years in automotive mechanics with diesel engines preferred.
- Must provide their own tools.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Level 5: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (At least six years experience automotive mechanics with diesel engines preferred.)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Level 3: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Level 2: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
REASONING ABILITY
Level 3: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Class B Mechanic

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of a Class C Mechanic.
- Repair all vehicles and specialized equipment requiring minor and major adjustments to ensure proper level of performance.
- Diagnose major tune-up and engine overhauls to include gasoline and/or diesel engines.
- Replaces, repairs or overhauls fuels systems including carburetors and fuel injection components.
- Repair or replace electrical components such as starters, solenoids, relays, wiring, etc.
- Perform brake overhauls on heavy-duty vehicles.
- Perform major installation of specialized equipment to vehicles such as wiring components to existing systems.
- Perform a variety of repairs on chassis, suspension system and drive train.
- Capable of making checks on components using test equipment and set tolerance levels if necessary.
- Service and repair air conditioning systems.
- Make repairs as necessary on road calls.
- Perform periodic and preventative maintenance with assistance.
- Troubleshoot all mechanical, electrical and air conditioning systems.
- Make repairs and adjustments on transmissions.
- Assist Shop Foreman or Director of Maintenance with other special projects as needed.
- Maximize efficient use of vehicle repair parts.
- Use welding equipment to make major repairs or fabricate metal parts.
- Ensure safety policies are maintained.
- Care and maintenance of equipment.
- Some outside working hours may be required for special events and training.

Primary duties are to operate Waco Transit vehicles over an established route to deliver transportation services in a safe and timely manner to the Waco community.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assignedQUALIFICATIONS
- Complete training and development classes as provided by the Director/Supervisor.
- Operate a Waco Transit vehicle safely in all types of weather and traffic conditions.
- Operate a Waco Transit safely in accordance to the printed schedules.
- Interact effectively with the general public under varying circumstances.
- Must be able to adhere to tight time schedules under varying conditions and still operate bus in a safe manner.
- Comply with federal mandates as they relate to assisting boarding and departing passengers with disabilities.
- Comply with CFR Title 49 (Subtitle A, Section 37.167) which states that operators wilI, "announce at least transfer points along fixed routes, other major intersections and destination points, and intervals along a route sufficient to permit individuals with visual impairments or other disabilities to be oriented to there locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post trip inspections of assigned vehicle.
- Although employees are not allowed to handle money given by passengers, they do need to address the customer if the proper amount of money is not put in the till. If issues occur concerning fares, the employee will contact the Street Supervisor.
- Consistent attendance is a requirement for the position. If an operator is one minute late for duty, it is considered a failure. Four failures is an automatic termination. (See policy manual.)
- Count passengers and record the number on trip sheets.
- Interact with all Waco Transit passengers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Be a professional representative of Waco Transit and it's management.
- Some outside work hours may be required for special events or training.
