Solid Waste Services - Recycling
Picking up your blue cart:
Single-family homes--- can pick up a recycling container by visiting the Solid Waste Administrative Offices at 501 Schroeder Drive.
Please bring a driver’s license and a vehicle large enough to accommodate the container, which is 46” high, 27.5” deep, and 31” wide. (A pickup truck is usually fine.)
If you already have a smaller curbside recycling container, you can exchange it for a larger one. For more information, call the Solid Waste offices at (254) 299-2612.
Apartment Complexes and Multi-Unit Housing--- may also have recycling services, provided the property management has requested the service.
If you are a tenant, check with your landlord about the possibility of starting recycling.

A list of materials that may be recycled in your blue cart:
- Paper (Staples, paper clips and envelopes with windows are okay)
- Advertising circulars and junk mail
- Cardboard packaging (remove liners from cereal boxes)
- Envelopes
- Cardboard boxes (please break them down to fit cart)
- Carbonless paper
- Newspaper (all sections)
- Office paper (including sticky notes and file folders)
- Magazines and catalogs
- Paper bags
- Phone books
*Please no binder or paper clips. No pizza boxes.
- Metals (clean)
- Aluminum cans (don’t flatten)
- Aluminum baking tins
- Steel or tin food cans and lids
- Plastics (clean, all colors)
- Plastic grocery bags
- #1 through #7 plastic containers
- #1 through #7 plastic food trays, tubs and bowls
Recycle your plastic shopping bags!
*Please no aluminum foil
*Please no glass in your blue cart. Clear, brown or green glass can be brought to our drop-off recycling center located on 44th Street between Cobbs Drive and Trice Avenue.

For timely service, please follow these rules:
- Place all material inside the cart so that the lid may fully close.
- Place the cart with arrows on the lid facing the street, and wheels at the edge of the street or curb.
- Place carts on the street prior to 7 a.m. on the designated service day.
- Please keep a 5 foot distance between all carts or items to be serviced and any obstacles, such as parked vehicles, mailboxes, utility meters, overhanging trees or power lines.
- Return carts to your storage area before the next morning.
