Solid Waste Services - Common Questions
Q. I have an alley dumpster. How will my trash service change?
A. Continue using your alley dumpster for trash collection as usual. Additionally, you will receive paper recycling, and yard trimmings collection from your front curb- all on the same day (service offered once per week).
Q. If I'm elderly or disabled, how will I get my wheeled cart to the curb?
A. Based on a doctor's certification, the Solid Waste employee will provide special collection service to you.
Q. When will my yard trimmings be collected?
A. Your yard trimmings will be collected on the same day as your trash - no call-in required.
Q. Will there be any additional fees for the services?
A. No. The once a week trash collection will enable the City of Waco to offer these additional services for no additional charge.
Q. What if I need an additional cart?
A. Additional containers cost an extra $4 per month. Upon request, the City will deliver the container to the household.
Q. If my container breaks, who will fix it?
A. If your container breaks though normal use, the City will repair or replace it at no cost to you.
Q. How do I dispose of bulky items like appliances, furniture, mattresses, etc.?
A. The City of Waco will continue to offer Bulky Collection Service, but on a call-in basis. Please call 299-2612 to request this service. The item will be picked up within one week once the request is submitted. There is no additional charge for this service. Under the bulky service, the City of Waco will collect loads that are approximately the size of a standard pickup bed. The Solid Waste Department can only collect material generated by residents. When material is generated by commercial sources (i.e. contractors and businesses), from tenant evictions, or at vacant lots, the Solid Waste Department will only collect these materials if the property owner is willing to pay for collection services. To arrange for this type of collection, call 299-2612.
