Police Explorers

Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.

Law Enforcement Explorer posts help youth to gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement, Exploring offers experiential learning with lots of fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.

Police Explorers Win "Explorer Post of the Year"

On April 10, 2010,  Waco Police Explorer Post 415 participated in the 2010 Metroplex Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in Richardson, Texas.  The statewide competition is hosted by the Texas Law Enforcement Explorers Advisors Association (TLEEAA). A total of 78 teams participated in this competition.

A four-person team from the Waco Police Explorers competed in four police scenarios.  They placed in 3 out of the 4 scenarios which were:  2nd Place-Burglary in Progress; 2nd Place-Bomb Threat Response; 3rd Place-Misdemeanor Traffic Stop.  Waco Police Explorer Post 415 was named the 2010 TLEEAA "Explorer Post of the Year" for the state of Texas.

Police Explorers Dominate SWAT Camp Competitions

Our Waco Police Explorer Post 415 participated in the 2010 SWAT Camp from August 5 to August 8th.  During the 4 days the explorers participate in various outdoor competitions and training by the Fort Worth SWAT unit.  The competitions included a mini triathlon, bike race, canoe race, obstacle course, relay race.

Once again our explorers represented our department well.  Explorer Captain Hanna Orosco competed in the mini triathlon which consisted of a 75m swim, 1 mile bike race and 1 mile run.  Hanna came in with a 1st place time of 20 min 35 seconds.  Explorer Sergeants Chad Krakowian and Justin Gonzales placed 2nd in the canoe race.
