The City of Waco initiated the formation of most of the neighborhood associations in the mid 1990's.
It was and is an effort to create better communication between the city and the neighborhoods and foster better relationships that could provide valuable information -- neighborhood specific information from the "neighborhood experts" to be used in the city's planning, budgeting and general operations.
The purpose of the Neighborhood Associations is to make each neighborhood better. What that means is different for each neighborhood area, depending on their needs, concerns and established priorities. |
