Virginia DuPuy was elected as Mayor on May 7, 2005,
and was re-elected on May 13, 2006. She was then re-elected for
a third term on May 10, 2008.
She was originally elected to the City Council on
May 15, 2004 as the Council Representative for District III.
DuPuy is the President and CEO of DuPuy Oxygen, a family owned gas and welding supply distributor.
DuPuy received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Baylor University.
She has been active in the following community organizations:
YMCA Board 1988-1994, president 1990-1992; TSTC Foundation Board
Member 1988-1991; Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors
1990-2001, Executive Committee 1997-2001, Chamber Chair 2000, Chamber

and Waco Business League Executive Committee 2000-2005, President
2004.
She is married to Leslie Carr DuPuy, Jr. They have two sons and four grandchildren. In her free time, DuPuy enjoys playing with her grandchildren, reading, music, writing, teaching and skating.
