Council Member Rick V. Allen was elected to the City Council on May 12, 2007.
Allen received his Bachelor of Arts in Select Student from Stephen F. Austin in 1974. He has done graduate work in counseling and marriage and family at the University of Houston and Texas Woman's University. He is certified for life in Secondary English and History and is also certified in Special Education.
Allen has been a psychiatric social worker, adjunct
instructor at McLennan Community College and owner of a landscaping
business. Allen is currently the Dean of Student Life at Rapoport
Academy High School. He also owns Colcord House Bed and Breakfast
with his wife, Pam.
Allen has served on numerous boards both in the city and on a state level including the Texas Association of Vocational Adjustment Coordinating Board. He has been Board President for Sanger Heights Neighborhood Association, Heart of Texas B&B Owners Association, Lake Shore Baptist Children's Center Board, and Heart of Texas Vocational Adjustment Coordinators Board. He recently served on the Historic Commission for the City of Waco and was a campus representative to the Association of Texas Professional Educators State Convention.
In his spare time, Allen gardens, reads, swims, and plays computer games. He is married to his wife of 25 years, Pam, and has two children, Nathan and Hannah, both graduates of Waco High School.
