Alice Rodriguez

Alice Rodriguez was re-elected to the Waco City Council on May 9, 2009 as the representative for District II. She previously served as the representative for District II from 1991-2001 and from 2005-2009. She served as Mayor Pro Tem during the years of 1992-1993 and 1999-2000 and was appointed to the role again for the 2007-2008 council year.
Rodriguez is a School Completion Liaison employed by Waco Independent School District. She works to recover drop out students.
She was awarded the 1992 YMCA Pathfinder Award and in 1998, she received the "Women of Distinction Award" through the Girls Scout - Bluebonnet Council.
As a Council Member, she is a member of the National League of Cities - Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO) and has served on the Executive Board of Women in Municipal Government through that organization. She is also a member of the Texas Municipal League - Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials (AHMO) and has served as Treasurer.
She continues to volunteer and serve her community through the following organizations:
- Current President of the League of United Latin American Council (LULAC)
- Vice President of AVANCE Waco
- Member of the Sociedad Mustulista Mexicana De Jornaleros
- Volunteer for the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
- Past President of Kendrick Neighborhood Association
Alice is married to Joe Rodriguez who is the Executive Director of the Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She has two daughters, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. |
