Council Representative Wilbert Austin, Sr. was elected to the
City Council on May 13, 2006 and re-elected on May 10, 2008.
He has served as the Pastor of the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church
in Moody for the past 26 years. Austin previously worked at
Owens-Illinois until his retirement.
Austin is a graduate of A.J. Moore High School in Waco. In 1990, he graduated from the Guadalupe Seminary.
He has served as the president of the East Brazos Neighborhood Association, a board member for Waco Transit, and as a board member for the United Way.
He is married to Pearl, his wife of 45 years. They have two sons, Wilbert Austin, Jr. and Edrick Austin; three daughters, Betty Austin, Peggy Caufield, and Sara Chopman; and four grandchildren.
