Council Representative Wilbert Austin, Sr. was elected to the City Council on May 13, 2006. He has served as the Pastor of the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Moody for the past 26 years. Austin previously worked at Owens-Illinois until his retirement.
Austin is a graduate of A.J. Moore High School in Waco. In 1990, he graduated from the Guadalupe Seminary.
He has served as the president of the East Brazos Neighborhood Association, a board member for Waco Transit, and as a board member for the United Way.
He is married to Pearl, his wife of 45 years. They have two sons, Wilbert Austin, Jr. and Edrick Austin; three daughters, Betty Austin, Peggy Caufield, and Sara Chopman; and four grandchildren.
