Fire Safety House

The Waco Fire Department fire safety house is a three axle, 39 foot, Scotty mobile concepts trailer.

The fire department took delivery of it in May 2006 with the help of the FEMA Fire Prevention grant.

Public Education uses the fire safety house to help educate 2nd and 3rd grade student in the Waco schools, (both private and public) about E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drill In The Home.)

The house helps children see an exit drill in real-life and to practice it like they would at home. With equipment inside, we can fill the trailer with artificial smoke.

With the artificial smoke, kids can see why it is important to crawl low and go (low below the smoke and go to a designated meeting spot), and make sure everyone in the trailer is accounted for.
