Police Awards Ceremony
The Waco Police Department held their annual awards banquet on
Feb. 22 at the Texas Life Annex.
Chief Brent Stroman presented awards to the following officers,
civilian employees and community volunteers:
- Officer of the Year - Officer Michael Bucher
- Civilian of the Year - Estella Lopez
- Detective of the Year -Detective Mike Alston
- Rookie of the Year - Officer Jason Vela
- Volunteer of the Year - Wilburn Lessman.

Book Sale Donations
The Friends of the Waco-McLennan County Library are accepting
donations for the fall book sale.
Paperbacks, hardbacks, movie videos, textbooks, CDs and DVDs are
needed. Books may be dropped off at any library location.

Easter Egg Hunts

The City of Waco Parks and Recreation Department will host Easter
egg hunts on March 22 at its neighborhood recreation centers.
- Bledsoe-Miller, 300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., 11 a.m. to
2 p.m., 750-8684
- South Waco, 2815 Speight, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 750-8650
- Dewey, 925 N. Ninth St., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., 750-8677
Each center will have egg hunts for children, a variety of family
activities and concessions.

Lifeguard Certification
The City of Waco Parks and Recreation Department and the American
Red Cross are teaming together to offer lifeguard certification
classes.
The first classes will take place in the evenings on March 24 -
28 and April 3 - 5. Additional classes are planned from April 7
- 11 and April 28 - May 2.
Participants must be at least 15 years of age or older before
the last scheduled class. There will be a pre-course session where
a swimming skills test will be given.
Upon completion of the classes, participants will receive First
Aid and CPR certification. Lifeguards can apply to work at Waco
Water Park, which will open in May. For registration information,

Spring Break Fun
Spring Break Camps

The City of Waco Parks and Recreation Department
will host Spring Break Camps at its recreation centers March
17-21. The day camps will be held from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
at Bledsoe-Miller, Dewey and South Waco recreation centers.
Youth ages 5 - 13 may attend. The cost is $40
for the week. During the week, children will participate in
arts and crafts, various outdoor activities and field trips.

Spring Break Round Up.

Teen Game Day

Central Library is hosting a Teen Game Day March
19 from 2 - 6 p.m. The program is for students in grades 6 -
12.
