Jim Holmes was appointed to the Waco City Council on June 7 2016, as the representative for District V, filling the seat left vacant by newly elected Mayor Kyle Deaver.
Holmes serves as Director and Executive Vice President of FirstCity Commercial Corporation (a division of Trimont Real Estate Advisors, a leading global commercial real estate services firm). Jim helped establish the FirstCity national investment platform in Waco in 1991, assisted in taking the platform public in 1995, and served as its Chief Operations Officer and Corporate Treasurer until 2015. Holmes is a Director on the Boards of over 20 investment and operating subsidiaries, including business lines in the U.S., Mexico, and Chile.
Holmes currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, and is active in St. Louis Church of Waco. Jim and his wife Cindy have been active in many community causes, including the Waco Symphony Orchestra, the Arthritis Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Junior League of Waco.
Jim received his Finance Degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska; and attended Baylor School of Law. He has two sons; Spencer and Kennedy. In his spare time, Jim enjoys travel, mountain climbing, fly-fishing, skiing, guitar, music and attending Baylor sporting events.
