Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
Inspect construction on new or existing structures/buildings by performing plumbing and mechanical inspections for compliance with the adopted codes and city ordinances. Issue correction notices and reports to citizens, builders, and/or contractors detailing any code violations that require corrective action. Maintain good public relations on projects by responding to citizen complaints concerning the project; resolving conflicts between contractors, other City departments, and property owners; insuring proper maintenance of the construction site in order to minimize inconvenience; answering questions regarding code compliance; providing interpretations of codes and/or ordinances; and offering suggestions within the limits of the codes and/or ordinances. Must follow City and departmental policies and procedures.
Work safely in accordance with the Safety Plan, Department Safety Plan, applicable laws and regulations, and supervisory directives. Perform other related duties as assigned. At times works in a climate controlled office environment. May be exposed to extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity while at inspection sites. Exposed to construction site conditions such as: dirt, dust, unpleasant fumes, communicable diseases, caustic substances, loud noises, and extreme vibrations.
Drivers License: Valid Class C Texas DL.
Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience: Two years of related experience is required.
Certifications: Journeyman Plumber license is required. Must obtain the State Plumbing Inspectors License within one year of employment.
Testing: No testing required.
Physical Demands: Light
DESIRED: Associate's Degree in a related field. Master Plumbing license, State Plumbing Inspector license, ICC Plumbing Inspectors certification, ICC Plumbing Plans Examiner certification, Medical Gas endorsement and Mechanical experience.
