Sic 'Em Science Day

Join the Mayborn Museum Complex and Baylor students on Saturday, November 7, for Sic 'Em Science Day! Baylor University chemistry students will showcase their educational talents as they bring together the art of science and magic. Visitors who bring their own empty 2-liter soda bottle will be able to make, decorate and launch their own rockets starting at 10:30 am. A Chemistry Magic Show will take place at 1:00 pm. Admission to the museum includes all activities and events. Baylor University students and museum members receive free admission. Event may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. Allbritton Art Institute Biennial Artist Conversation with Frank Stella and Jason Kaufman

The Allbritton Art Institute is pleased to announce that we will host internationally recognized artist Frank Stella and critically acclaimed art critic Jason Kaufman for our Allbritton Art Institute Biennial Artist Conversation on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in Jones Theater in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. Jason Kaufman will interview Frank Stella about his life, art, career and work. This interview follows the October 30th opening of "Frank Stella: A Retrospective" at the Whitney Museum of American Art, which will be the most comprehensive career retrospective of his work and the museum’s first retrospective for a living artist. There will be a question and answer session following the interview. We hope you will join us for Mr. Stella’s first visit to the Baylor University and Waco communities. This event is free and open to the public. Seating will be limited. A buffet reception will follow. Special Friends Frenzy at Sul Ross Community Center

The Sul Ross Community Center (15th St. and Waco Dr.) will host “Special Friends Frenzy” on Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 p.m. Bring your special needs friends or family members to enjoy a night of social dancing. Music will be provided by DJ Renee, plus refreshments, and cool door prizes every 30 minutes. This event takes place every 2nd Wednesday of each month. 6:30 pm.


A Veterans Day Celebration will be held November 11 at the Veterans One Stop. Active service members, Veterans and family members are invited to enjoy a day of free barbeque, live music, and socializing. Serving those who’ve served. The Veterans One Stop.

Waco Veterans Day Parade

Have you thanked a veteran lately? On Wednesday, November 11th, Central Texans will come together to show their appreciation for our nation’s veterans at Waco’s Annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Waco, starting shortly after 11 a.m. The parade features a variety of floats, bands, cheer squads, drill teams and our beloved veterans. All the action will be broadcast live on the Waco City Cable Channel [Time Warner channel 10 or Grande channel 10] in HD, from five different cameras. The station will also offer live parade commentary from the corner of 5th St. and Austin Ave. The same LIVE coverage can be seen on the WCCC.TV Web Channel and mobile app at, viewable from anywhere in the world over the Internet or mobile device. Join us in celebrating the lifelong dedication of those who have served our country and fought to defend the freedom we all enjoy.

Texas Ranger Hall of Fame to Honor All Military

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is hosting Military Appreciation Day on Veterans Day – Wednesday, November 11th. Active duty personnel, retirees and Veterans will receive FREE admission to the Museum while their family members will receive discounted admissions. Please show a valid id or documentation of service – medals, service records, and photographs are accepted. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with the last guest admitted at 4:30 p.m. The museum is accessible from the University Parks Drive Entrance. For more information, visit or call 750-8631.

Doris Miller Memorial Fundraiser at the Hippodrome

On November 11th, The Hippodrome (727 Austin Ave.) will present two showings of "Tora! Tora! Tora!" to honor our veterans and to raise funds for the Doris Miller Memorial project. The first showing will be at 12:30 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will be greatly appreciated.

Wild About Waco

The next Wild About Waco class is coming to the Mayborn Museum (1300 S. University Parks Dr.) on Wednesday, November 11th from 2 to 5 p.m. Wild About Waco is a 3 hour customer service training session, tailored specifically for Waco & the Heart of Texas. The program encourages locals to incorporate visitor-friendly practices in their jobs. Our goal is to make Waco & the Heart of Texas the most customer-friendly region in Texas! AVANCE-Waco Extravaganza and Quinceañera Gala

You are invited to the 3rd annual AVANCE-Waco Extravaganza and Quinceañera Gala on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for a "Starry Night" at the Baylor Club at the beautiful McLane Stadium.
