When the holidays are over, please hang onto your Christmas tree! Keep Waco Beautiful will host its annual “Chipping of the Green” Christmas tree recycling event on Saturday, January 9th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Paul Tyson Field parking lot. Stained Glass Majesty I

Tatting for Beginners/Bobbin Lace Making

Learn the art of tatting or bobbin lace making. Tatting is a type of lace making that uses various knots, thread and a "shuttle." Susan Merritt will teach you fundamental tatting techniques, types of threads, how to read patterns and how to finish your project. For those interested in bobbin lace making, Susan will teach basic skills with an emphasis on tape lace. You'll learn how to wind and hang on bobbins, as well as three types of stitches. Begin with a tape lace sampler, and then make a bookmark, bracelet or ornament. A brief history and contemporary applications will be discussed throughout the course. Polar Plunge at Hawaiian Falls Waco

Are you brrrrrave enough to participate in Polar Plunge at Hawaiian Falls Waco? Recruit friends, grab a costume and come support special athletes in the Heart of Texas area with this fundraiser. Bring a minimum of $60 in donations ($30 if under 18) in exchange for taking the plunge. Polar Plunge takes place on Saturday, January 30th at Hawaiian Falls Waco at 900 Lake Shore Drive.
