Professionals Invited to Participate in One-Day Interactive Course on Supporting Veterans’ Children through Transitions
Professional development course on December 9 will focus on the unique transition issues children face when their parents separate from the military.
WACO – Parents, professionals, and interested adults near Waco, Texas are invited to participate in a one-day interactive course through the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC). The course, Supporting Veterans’ Children through Transitions, creates an environment for youth-serving educators, professionals, and parents to learn about the unique transition issues children face when their parents voluntarily or involuntarily transition from military to civilian life.
Anyone concerned about the welfare of military kids is invited to enroll in this face-to-face course, held on December 9, 2016. The course will take place at the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative, 100 Research Parkway, Waco, TX 76704 from 8:00am – 4:00pm. Participants are also eligible to earn Continuing Education Units. This course is sponsored by The Allergen Foundation and there is no cost to participants.
The course explores the academic and social-emotional implications for children and youth when their parents transition out of the military. It also identifies the needs of military and veteran-connected children whose parents have died, been wounded, or have combat-related illnesses. Participants will discover resources and integrate positive strategies to support veterans’ children.
MCEC is an accredited Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. MCEC is also a National Board for Certified Counselors Approved Continuing Education provider (ACEP™) and may offer NBCC-approved clo
