Fit & Fun Run Club

Get fit and have fun this fall! Join us for a walk/run in the park. It's great to have a group for accountability and fun. Meet at Indian Spring Park (near the suspension bridge) and we will do a warm-up, followed by 30 minutes of easy interval training and a great cool down! Bring a bottle of water and wear comfy running clothes. Physical literacy is the name of the game--build confidence and strength.

Meet your peers and discover role models in the computer science and technology field. We are part of this national initiative to increase the number of women in tech fields in the future.

Join us for a storytime in English and Spanish! Activities for the whole family support bilingual learning and cultures with an emphasis on fun.

The Sensory Friendly Matinee is a movie viewing especially for our visitors with special needs. The lights are not too low and the sound is not too loud. There's plenty of room to move around and sing along! This month, join us for the sister power of Frozen!

Brown Bag Lunch with Genealogy: How to use Fold3

If you are looking for information about your military ancestors, the Fold3 database is the place to start. We will have tips and tricks and you will get to try the database for yourself for hands-on experience with ProQuest TCP trainer Arta Kabashi.

This group meets at the Library every month to work toward becoming the central source of cemetery information in McLennan County by recording cemetery and burial information for future generations.

It's great to know where you're headed! Library Scouts can make sure you never lose your way. With the Library Scouts you can learn new skills, discover your talents and make friends. This month, we'll make, use and read compasses.

Women's Self Defense

Ladies, find out ways to feel strong and secure! Learn techniques to avoid attacks, disengage and disable an attacker with the Family Martial Arts of Texas. They will share their expertise and you will leave feeling empowered! Wear loose clothing and get ready to move.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secrets of the Sewer

Experience the first-ever museum exhibit featuring the four heroic ninjas in training – Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – at the Mayborn Museum Complex from January 13, 2017 – May 6, 2017. Leap to the rescue and learn teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving as you work your way through puzzles, mazes, and obstacles. Explore their sewer-like lair, where good guys win and bad guys lose! Since 1984, these four iconic brothers have rocked it with their talent and teamwork, inspiring generations. Now families can join these pizza-eating, crime-fighting “Heroes in a Half-Shell” to hone their ninja skills and problem-solving intellects while learning the secrets of the sewer. This exhibit was produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and Nickelodeon.

Anti-Bullying Program

Is bullying on your radar? Join us for an awesome workshop with Family Martial Arts of Texas where they'll share with us tips to avoid being bullied OR being a bully. Kids can come learn an important lesson that will stick with them for a long time.

Design Den: Glow

Design Den will be glowing with fun activities! All ages can explore phosphorescent materials and the science of light in the front area of Design Den. In Design Den Studio, visitors can create Scribble Bots that draw glow-in-the-dark designs! Scribble Bots are recommended for ages 6 and up.

Not In My City: Human Trafficking Outreach

Take a stand against human trafficking in your community. Join the Heart of Texas Human Trafficking Coalition for a coordinated outreach to bring awareness and resources across the Heart of Texas. The "Not In My City" outreach is an awareness campaign in which community members talk to local businesses (truck stops, convenience stores, motels) about human trafficking and ask them to display a "Not In My City" poster. For the first time ever, this outreach will be happening at the same time in six counties across the Heart of Texas.
