FIber Art by Fiber Revolution and Special Summer Event!

Martin Museum of Art, Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center

Description:
The Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University will feature textile artwork by Fiber Revolution beginning July 10. The exhibition is scheduled from July 10 to August 18 in Gallery II. Fiber Revolution is a network of professional textile artists whose goal is to educate the public about fiber art as an exciting art form. A gallery talk and silkscreen demonstration by fiber artist Carolyn Lee Vehslage will be at 1-3pm on July 19 at the Martin Museum of Art. This event is free and the public is cordially invited. Due to popular demand the “Selections from the Permanent Collection” exhibition will be extended July 10 through August 18.

TSTC Aerospace Center Open House & Fly-in

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, Texas State Technical College Airport, Airline Drive

Description:
Texas State Technical College invites the public to a free Open House & Fly-in of the new, high-tech, 82,500-square foot Col. James T. Connally Aerospace Center. Guests can tour and enjoy hands-on demonstrations of TSTC’s aviation programs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 27-28. Hors d’oeuvres are offered Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a Wings Safety Seminar, focusing on encourage pilots or those who want to be, is noon to 1 p.m. Saturday. The seminar includes a free “Burger Burn” lunch. There is no charge to attend the seminar. Aircraft will be on display on the tarmac both days. One HOT Reining

Extraco Coliseum & Extraco Show Pavilion

Description:
Reining is a western riding competition for horses where the riders guide the horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins, and stops. Reining is often described as a Western form of dressage riding, as it requires the horse to be responsive and in tune with its rider, whose aids should not be easily seen, and judges the horse on its ability to perform a set pattern of movements. The horse should be willingly guided or controlled with little or no apparent resistance and dictated to completely. The One HOT Reining at the Extraco Events Center invites horses, trainers and riders from across the world to compete in Waco. July 26-29 – admission and parking is free – competition starts at 8:00 AM daily.

"Get a Clue" Children's Summer Reading Club

Description:
Ages 11 and under can sign up from May 29 - July 3 at the Waco-McLennan County Libraries and read to earn special prizes, including a book of your choice from our selected list! Reading can be done at home, on vacation, etc. for this free club. PARENTS - This helps your child's reading skills continue during the school break and is also a great reading motivator for pre-readers!!
