Fast of Caring to Support "World Food Day"
Time & Place:
Heritage Square at 12:15-12:45PM
Most of us have never missed a meal due to famine or poverty. The McLennan County Hunger Coalition (MCHC) is sponsoring their 4th annual Fast of Caring on Wednesday, October 16—World Food Day. The Hunger Coalition would like to encourage everyone to participate by sacrificing their midday meal on October 16 in order to experience the feeling of hunger. A short ceremony will be held for participants from various companies, congregations and organizations. We will briefly share local, national, and international efforts to alleviate the scourge of hunger. Participants are encouraged to donate the cost of the lunch they will be missing (approx. $10.00). Donations are voluntary and not necessary to participate in the fast. All funds donated will go to support the weekly parent/child meals at Talitha Koum, a local therapeutic child care center in Waco (www.talithakoum.org).
We hope that you can find one contact person in your organization to help spread the word about the Fast of Caring in your business. Please contact us for a company registration form and let us know if you will participate or plan to join us at Heritage Square. Your contact person will spread the word and collect from those who would like to donate. Kenneth Moerbe, MCHC Board Member, will pick up contributions Thursday, October 17th. Please contact us and participate. Kenneth Moerbe,254-715-0143,firstname.lastname@example.org or Esther Morales,254-753-3545,email@example.com
