The goal of a safe community is accomplished through teamwork between the police department and local citizens. Local residents often serve as the best eyes and ears for reporting crimes in their neighborhoods or helping to develop crime prevention programs. The City of Waco Police Department has several programs to educate the community about their services including the Citizen's Police Academy and Citizen on Patrol programs.
