Coordinator's Corner
Well, the 2006 State TCPAA Convention has come
and gone, and by all accounts was a huge success. Our entourage
attended this year's convention in Richardson Tx, and had a
great time. We are already planning to attend next year's convention
which will be held in Austin July 4th - 7th. We would like to
give a big thumbs-up to the representatives from the city of
Wichita Falls for being selected to host the convention in 2008.
We look forward to paying Wichita Falls a visit in 08.
The year is rolling on by and we are busy planning
new activities in support of the police department and community.
Our volunteer vehicle is not only the talk of the town but also
the state. Our volunteer vehicle made an appearance at a two-day
school in Fort Worth for CPA coordinators, and made a big hit.
Many Representatives from around the state who attended the
school could not stop commenting on how good the City of Waco
CPAAA/COP car looked. Some even took pictures of the car back
to their city leaders and police departments. Our folks are
using the vehicle to patrol their neighborhoods, and are getting
a lot of positive feedback from the community. We can't thank
the City and the Police Department enough.
Our members, like they do every year, assisted
with traffic and pedestrian control during the 4th of July celebration
at Indian Springs Park. First ,it was hot and then it rained
us all out. But everyone did a great job!
Many members participated in National Night Out
August 1, and helped make it a big success. The Mclennan County
Sheriff's Department hosted this years DARE conference, and
we were there assisting them.
The Texas Auto Theft Task Force will be having
their conference here in October, and we will be assisting them
as well. We are now very busy with Baylor home football games
and the 30th session of the Citizens Police Academy. When the
fair is in town we are there helping to keep the parking lots
as safe as possible.
I would like to thank everyone for a fantastic
job well done!
