On Patrol: Volunteer
citizens who actively patrol their neighborhoods as additional eyes
and ears for the police department. |

Police Academy:
An innovative and informative 15-week class designed to inform
the community about the philosophy and operations of the Waco
police department.
Citizens
Police Academy Alumni Association: "Bridging the Gap"
is the motto of the graduates of the Citizens Police Academy whose
mission is to support the Waco police department and officers
in meeting the needs of the community.

Neighborhood
Watch: "Thy
Brothers Keeper" is the adage of the Neighborhood watch crime prevention
program. Learning to recognize and report suspicious activity and
implementing crime deterrents is the goal of the program. |

Project
Childsafe/Homesafe: Free cable-style gunlocks available to secure
your firearms and help prevent accidental firearm discharges. |
|
Police Chaplain: Area ministers volunteer as Police Chaplains
to help minister to the Departments employees and participate
in Department functions.

Residential
and Business Security Surveys and Inspections: Free security
inspection of your home or business. Recommendations provided to
improve the security measures of your home or business against crime.
Homeowners may also qualify for a reduction on their homeowner's
insurance premiums. |

National
Night Out: Held on the 1st Tuesday of each August, National
Night Out is a unique opportunity for neighbors to get together,
socialize and send a strong message that crime and drugs will not
be tolerated in our neighborhoods and community. |

Police
Explorers, Post 415: Program
is designed for both young men and women between the ages of 14-21
who have an interest in law enforcement. Police Explorers compete
against other Explorers around the state on police type scenarios.
Explorers get the opportunity to go on ride-alongs with officers
and get to work alongside them during special events. |

McGruff
the Crime Dog: Join McGruff the Crime Dog in a variety of programs
and at community events. |

Educational
Programs: These crime prevention and safety programs include:
Personal safety for adults as well as children, Stranger Danger,
Weapons safety, robot programs, Robbery prevention, Police Department
tours, and others upon request. We also invite you to view the police
services section of the City web site for additional safety and
educational information. Note: Our programs are available in Spanish.
